Visitor arrivals to Hong Kong triple in January, five visitor centers offer ‘Goodies’ visitor vouchers
Hong Kong received about 500,000 tourists in January, three times as many as in December, according to figures released by the tourism bureau on Wednesday.
The data also showed a recovery of about 10 percent compared to the average daily arrivals in 2019, the HKTB said.
In addition to travelers with basic travel needs such as overnight stopovers, family visits or business trips, the proportion of leisure travelers also increased.
Of the non-mainland visitors received in January, about 85,000 were short-haul visitors and about 54,000 were long-haul visitors.
In addition, the Tourism Board launched the “Hello Hong Kong” campaign, and together with merchants in the city, distributed at least 1 million “Hong Kong Gifts” travel coupons, each worth at least HK$100, to tourists visiting Hong Kong.
From today (15 February), in addition to a welcome drink at selected bars, restaurants and hotels, tourists can also redeem their vouchers directly at more than 1,500 outlets at various attractions, retail outlets and F&B outlets with no minimum spend required special offers.
Passengers can visit the Heung Yuen Wai/Liantang Port, one of the five visitor centers of the HKTB, the arrival hall of Hong Kong International Airport, the Star Ferry Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui, the arrival hall of the West Kowloon High Speed Rail Station, and the Passenger Clearance Building of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
The HKTB will also distribute tourist coupons to people who purchase Hong Kong travel products through major travel portals and travel agencies around the world.
