Visiting Hong Kong soon? Here’s what you need to know about the revised entry rules
SINGAPORE: From Wednesday (Dec 14), international travelers arriving in Hong Kong will no longer face the COVID-19 movement control after the removal of the mandatory mobile app.
Travelers were previously issued an “amber code”, which meant they could not go to establishments such as restaurants or bars during their first three days in Hong Kong.
Health Minister Law Chung Moh said on Tuesday that “there are no restrictions on international arrivals” following the easing of COVID-19 rules.
“So on the same day they disembark, they are free to enter any venue,” he added.
While arrivals no longer face restrictions on moving around — provided they test negative for COVID-19 — Several regulations are still in force.
Passengers entering Hong Kong must be fully vaccinated and undergo a pre-departure Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) within 24 hours of scheduled departure.
After submitting negative test results and vaccination records through the health quarantine declaration form, a green health declaration QR code will be generated for passengers to present at the airline check-in counter.
Upon arrival, they must undergo a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test at Hong Kong International Airport and on the third day of arrival in Hong Kong.
PCR testing can be performed at community testing centers, mobile specimen collection stations, or any accredited local medical testing institution.
Travelers must also take a RAT test five days before their visit and report the results through Hong Kong’s electronic COVID-19 medical monitoring system.
