In April 2023, a group of foreign tourists were at Phu Bai International Airport in central Thua Thien Hue province.

This year, the frequency of international searches for Vietnam’s inbound tourism increased by nearly 300% year-on-year, with tourists from South Korea and the United States showing the greatest interest.

According to a report released by online travel agency Agoda, Japan ranks third among the five countries most interested in inbound tourism to Vietnam, followed by Thailand and Singapore.

Lam Vu, Country Director of Agoda Vietnam, said: “Vietnam’s attractiveness to tourists from all over the world continues to grow this year, and transportation is becoming more and more convenient.”

“Vietnam’s popularity has also increased due to the liberalization of visa policies,” Vu added.

Agoda’s report is also consistent with this year’s data on international tourists in Vietnam.

South Korea is the largest source of foreign tourists this year with 3.2 million visitors, while the United States is the fourth largest market (658,000 visitors), behind China and Taiwan.

Japan and Thailand rank among the top ten tourism markets for inbound tourism in Vietnam.

As Vietnam made a breakthrough in its tourism policy, Vietnam received 1.23 million foreign tourists in November, which was the highest monthly number of tourists since the borders were reopened after the COVID-19 epidemic in March last year.

Starting from August 15, Vietnam’s new immigration policy will accept electronic visa applications from citizens of all countries and regions. The visa is valid for multiple entries and is valid for 90 days.

In addition to issuing tourist visas to all countries, the government has also extended the period of stay in Vietnam for citizens of 13 countries that are unilaterally exempt from visas from 15 days to 45 days.

Foreign tourist arrivals have topped 11.2 million so far this year, and the country aims to welcome 13 million by the end of the year.
