Vande Bharat Metro to go live by December 2023: Check features, frequencies, routes and other details
Trains operated by Vande Bharat can reach a top speed of over 160 kilometers per hour. Also, the Vande Bharat sleeper train will be in service soon.
New Delhi: After the introduction of the semi-high-speed train Vande Bharat Express in several cities across the country, the Ministry of Railways plans to link major cities within short distances through the metro network, according to Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Vaishnaw said in a statement that the idea behind Vande Metro is that in cities with a distance of less than 100 kilometers, trains can run at a very high frequency, four or five times a day, which is very comfortable and affordable. By December, the train will be ready.
He claimed that the responses received by Vande Bharat were the basis for the plan to operate the Vande Bharat Metro.
This will allow job seekers and students to travel between cities on top-notch transport while saving time, he added. In addition, it will help relieve traffic pressure on local trains.
He claimed that the creation of test tracks is crucial for India to become a significant railway exporter.
What is the suggested route?
Vande Metro will run between cities that are closer together, while Vande Bharat Express trains usually run between cities that are farther apart. Most of the Vande Bharat trains currently operating in India cover approximately 500 km.
The Railways Minister previously said the trains would run between cities about 100 kilometers apart. The train service is expected to start first between Kanpur and Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, a distance of about 90 km.
How often will it be?
Unlike Vande Bharat Express, Vande Metro runs frequently. According to Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the train will run four to five times a day. Also, these trains are expected to be affordable for daily commuters.
feature
Vande Metro is expected to be faster compared to Vande Bharat Express trains.
The train will provide passengers with a fast shuttle-like experience.
The size of the train is relatively small, with about eight carriages.
This is a far cry from Vande Bharat Express’ usual fleet of 16 coaches.
