Travel Guide: Where to go with family in Thailand 2022
Thailand is open to international tourists and the Thai Songkran Festival is coming. Thailand offers everything you need for a perfect family holiday, including beautiful beaches, a variety of scenery, fun activities for kids, friendly locals and affordable food.
Traveling with your family can take a lot of planning, especially if you don’t know where you’re going. So here are our top 5 recommended places to travel with your family in Thailand in 2022.
Kanchanaburi
Kanchanaburi is located approximately 130 kilometers west of Bangkok, making it a great choice for a two-day excursion. This gorgeous and historic city on the River Kwai lets families learn about World War II history.
It is also a lovely riverside treasure in Thailand with beautiful natural landscapes. While younger travelers may be less interested in learning about the history of the area, a train journey along the majestic Death Railway is as exciting as it is exciting. This is an experience not to be missed.
The sad past is contrasted with stunning natural features such as waterfalls, caves and rivers. If you plan to stay a few nights, we recommend staying in a floating raft house for an unforgettable river adventure.

korat
Nakhon Ratchasima is known for having the country’s first national park, Khao Yai National Park. It extends from Nakhon Ratchasima to neighboring Prachinburi, Saraburi and Nakhon Ratchasima.
Spot elephants, monkeys, deer, monkeys, porcupines, otters and foxes, as well as a variety of reptiles and birds on a leisurely stroll in Khao Yai. There are trails for people of all abilities, and many of the park’s greatest attractions are also accessible by car. Waterfalls and picturesque vantage points enhance the diversity.
The headquarters is also great for families, with ample seating areas, a restaurant and café, a recently refurbished nature center with a children’s play area, and a spacious gift shop with a variety of fun souvenirs for the whole family.
But when the sun goes down, the real fun begins. Be sure to stay for the night safari. On a 30-minute safari, your group will ride around in the back of a pickup truck, while a local wildlife guide spotlights forests and fields in search of cool creeping creatures at night. Just remember to bring a sweater.

Krabi
Krabi is a beach lover’s paradise and the perfect place to unwind. Not only does Krabi have some of the best beaches in the country, but it’s also a great place to snorkel and see Thailand’s fascinating underwater world. You can travel through the caves on a long-tail boat that will take you to other majestic island paradises.
Travelers can take a boat trip to islands such as Koh Lanta and Koh Phi Phi, or relax on the white sandy beaches of Railay and Ao Nang. There are also many exciting day trip possibilities in the area to parks, waterfalls, an elephant sanctuary or, for older kids, rock climbing in some of the top climbing areas.

Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai’s climate is cooler than southern Thailand, making for a more pleasant experience for those looking to escape the heat, especially as the year draws to a close. This is when most Thais head to the northern country to dust off their sweaters and experience the drop in temperatures. If you like camping then this is the best option for you.
Chiang Mai city is a great place to visit with the whole family. It offers a peaceful small town atmosphere with many cafés, restaurants and old buildings to explore. There are many family-friendly activities to choose from, including visits to museums and zoos, as well as vibrant local markets.
Chiang Mai is known for its many outdoor activities in the surrounding mountains. For a more adventurous activity, consider feeding or washing elephants at an elephant sanctuary, petting tigers at a tiger park, or rafting, ziplining or hiking. The list goes on. You can also visit remote hill tribe settlements in the surrounding countryside, where you can learn about their local culture and buy one-of-a-kind handmade souvenirs at incredible value.
Chiang Mai also has a zoo with a night safari, but this one is much more modest. Instead of gazing out into the dark forest from the back of a pine trailer, you can sit on the little train and watch the animals in the cages (which is still fun, though not as wild). But if you’re visiting on a Sunday, head to the Night Safari Chapel inside the zoo.

Bangkok
Last but not least, we cannot forget Bangkok. It’s a city that never sleeps (though it’s a little quieter now than it was before the pandemic). No matter where you are exploring, the whole family will be on your toes as there is always activity happening around you. Every family should go to Bangkok at least once.
The city has a lot to offer. Instead of mountains and beaches, you can visit parks and big shopping malls. There are outdoor and indoor playgrounds for kids (MEGA Bang Na is especially great). Take a boat trip on the Chao Phraya River, browse the night or weekend markets, or go for a picnic and take a walk in Lumphini Park – where you might spot some cool monitor lizards. No matter what you do, the concrete jungle will keep you on your toes for the right reasons.
Not to mention the plentiful food options. There’s enough here to please everyone, whether you’re looking for local food at a street vendor, reliable food from a regular chain restaurant, or upscale dining at a fine dining restaurant or boutique coffee shop. Thailand is truly the land of smiles and Bangkok has it all.
