The International Hospital Federation (IHF), one of the most important international non-profit organizations in the world in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), was selected for the Prevention Contribution Award and published a List of 103 hospitals around the world that have contributed to the control of infectious diseases. At the same time, the IHF also published a report on good practice in infection control: Building a “new normal”: capitalizing on transformative practices brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. In this report, experts select infection control measures that IHF members should follow and summarize case studies of such infection control measures. The Central Health Insurance Office of the Ministry of Health and Welfare of the Republic of China (Taiwan) (similar to the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare) TOCC issued an alert to the medical data cloud search system (MediCloud) of “National Health Insurance” (Taiwan’s universal medical insurance system) in the report It was rated as one of the top five study cases in the world. TOCC refers to information such as travel history, occupation, contact history, and presence or absence of aggregation.
According to Li Bozhang, director of the Central Medical Insurance Bureau, with the global spread of the new coronavirus this year, the agency has strengthened the functions of the “health insurance medical information cloud search system”. And the newly developed real-time we succeeded in preventing the spread of infection by collectively mastering the TOCC of people visiting medical institutions using this alert system. Li said that being recognized by the IHF is not only an honor for all medical workers in Taiwan, but also a major contribution to Taiwan’s participation in the WHO.
In particular, the report noted that many healthcare systems struggle to exchange information across sectors and organizations, undermining patients’ rights. Most importantly, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Taiwan has implemented an innovative information integration that combines immigration data with a health insurance medical information cloud search system to provide medical staff with real-time and accurate information at the right time and place. Provides detailed patient information (travel history, occupation, etc.) and explains that this greatly facilitates the triage and diagnosis of patients by medical institutions, which he says is one of the main reasons for the low price.
