TAT Promotes Low-Carbon Wonderful Organic Journey


Working with strategic partners, the project focuses on sustainable organic tourism activities and organic food experiences unique to Chiang Mai and Phuket.

Bangkok, Thailand – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is promoting a series of “Magic Organic Journeys” concepts, focusing on organic farming activities, healthy food experiences, and low-carbon footprint initiatives, in line with its ongoing drive to develop high-value and sustainable tourism.

TAT Governor Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn said “The Amazing Organic Travel Project is part of our plan to integrate sustainable tourism and emphasize the importance of responsible travel in the traveler’s journey through community-based tourism. It also reflects our promotion of organic tourism and strengthening agriculture and tourism A strategy for linkages between industries, agriculture and tourism are the two cornerstone economic pillars of Thailand.”

The “Magic Organic Journey” route was initially launched in Chiang Mai and Phuket, and is a collaboration between TAT and Thailand Ecotourism and Adventure Travel Association (TEATA), Thai Organic Consumers Association (TOCA), SiamRise Travel, FIND FOLK and other partners Tailor-made itineraries, Golfdigg, and a local travel community.

In Chiang Mai, the Amazing Organic Tour highlights the Mae Ta community in the Mae An district, which has been a model organic farming community for the past three generations. Visitors can learn about how locals uphold organic farming practices to protect the environment, the community forest and its water resources, and the important role it plays in supplying organic produce to city shops and restaurants.

The tour also includes cooking classes and gourmet meals using local ingredients to prepare healthy dishes “PM2.5 Emissions Reduction Menu at the Chef’s Table” These include grilled fish with local vegetables, fish-based chilli sauce, spicy local vegetable salad, fried organic baby corn, mixed vegetable soup and organic sweet potatoes – all using local produce.

In Phuket, the Amazing Organic Tour centers on the Ban Bang Rong, Mai Khao and Old Phuket towns.Visitors can learn about organic farming of pineapples, rubber and coconuts, experience ‘sand therapy’ treatments and explore local conservation ‘Lin Hahn’ Herbs, and try to catch ‘sand crabs or sea cicadas’ – a sign that the ecosystem in the area is undisturbed.

A carbon-neutral walking tour of Old Phuket Town combines unique Central European architecture and culture with cooking classes and local food experiences.specially created for “Community Economic Recovery Menu” It features lotus petal salad with Phuket GI-certified pineapple, grilled sea cicada with kumquats, coconut milk curry with Dollfus octopus, fried “Linharn” herbs, and sashimi with spicy grape seaweed salad – all served Local ingredients.

“Through organic travel in Chiang Mai and Phuket, tourists can contribute to reducing their personal carbon footprint. For example, a walking tour of Phuket’s old town is considered a carbon-neutral tourism activity. By producing food that is product-based, without the use of chemicals in the production process or in organic farming, or that uses locally produced ingredients, visitors can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from raw material transport and imports.” Mr Yuthasak concluded.
