Klook, an online travel agency for tourism and activities, said in an interview with the media that according to platform data, since Monday, the traffic of Hong Kong and Macau users searching for Taiwan products on Klook has soared by more than 2.5 times.
According to Klook, preliminary data show that the two products that Hong Kong and Macau tourists pay the most attention to are “hotel accommodation” and “self-driving car rental”. The third most popular item is Taiwan High Speed Rail tickets and other transportation tickets. Compared with tourists from other countries, tourists from Hong Kong and Macau prefer Taiwanese food, exhibitions and hot spring experiences.
KKday, a Taiwanese tourism e-commerce platform, shared that Taiwan has always been one of the most popular overseas destinations for Hong Kong and Macau tourists due to its geographical location close to Hong Kong and Macau and the absence of language barriers.
According to a CNA report, KKday’s overseas tourists from Hong Kong and Macau also ranked third before the epidemic. Their favorite products are suburban tours, transportation tickets, chartered one-day tours, special experiences and food. .
