Enter Taiwan
Foreigners without a residence permit cannot travel to Taiwan until further notice. International students, foreign spouses and children of Taiwan citizens, Foreign relatives of Taiwan citizens and foreign residents in Taiwan (excluding migrant workers) You can apply to enter Taiwan. Other exceptions will only be considered on emergency or humanitarian grounds. Official or business travelers with an approved entry permit can visit Taiwan. Travelers should contact the nearest Taiwan representative office for more information on entry requirements. Please refer to the Consular Affairs Bureau for details.
Taiwan airports will allow international transfers.
Taiwanese citizens, ARC holders and transit passengers are not required to take a PCR test before departing for Taiwan. If you do not fall into these categories and you are able to enter Taiwan, you still need to show a negative COVID-19 (PCR) test result. The test must be taken within 2 days of your scheduled departure. all from Vietnam. See Taiwan Centers for Disease Control for more information.
Antigen or antibody test results will not be accepted. Certificates of test results can be originals, copies or digital copies. The certificate should be in English and/or Chinese. Certificates in other languages may be accepted after consultation with the ground crew at the departure airport. A few exceptions to the testing rules apply. Seafarers and emergency responders on fishing vessels are exempt.
You will need to take a COVID-19 (PCR) test as soon as you get off the plane and wait for the results.
If you test negative for COVID-19, you can go to Immigration to collect your checked luggage and travel to the quarantine facility in a designated quarantine vehicle at your own expense. If yes, your passport and other entry documents will be checked by specially designated airport staff. If your symptoms are severe, you will be taken directly by ambulance to hospital for further examination and treatment; if your symptoms are mild or asymptomatic, you will be taken to a government-designated isolation facility or enhanced isolation hotel.
All international arrivals will be quarantined for 3 days (excluding the day of your entry), followed by 4 days of self-monitoring (“spontaneous quarantine”). Weekly arrivals are capped at 40,000. The airport will provide two Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) kits to international arrivals 2 years of age and older. You should use the RAT if you have symptoms of COVID-19 during isolation or before you first went out during self-monitoring. Visit Mandatory Quarantine Requirements for more details.
Taiwanese authorities only recognize COVID-19 vaccines approved by the World Health Organization or the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration. Some conditions apply. Detailed guidance is available at the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control.
If you develop symptoms on arrival or within 14 days of arrival, you will need to remain in one of the government-designated isolation facilities until you are notified of your arrival PCR test results. If the test result is negative, a second sample will be taken within 24 hours. If both tests are negative and you have been evaluated by your doctor, you can complete the rest of the isolation at an approved location.
If you are a student studying a formal degree program in Taiwan, you can travel to Taiwan. You can also travel if you are a recipient of the Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mandarin Intensive Scholarship. However, you must still be quarantined. If you are a non-degree student, you may not be able to enter Taiwan. This includes short-term language students, exchange students or New Colombo Plan students.
After the quarantine period is over, you must follow a period of self-health management. Significant penalties may apply if you violate quarantine requirements.
International cruise ships, regardless of their shipping routes, are not allowed to dock in Taiwan.

You must wear a mask in all public places. This includes:
- health care facility
- Public transit
- indoor shopping area
- learning facilities
- Exhibition venue
- entertainment venue
- place of worship
- public office
- business premises.
You do not need to wear a mask in forests and mountains (including forest play areas) and on beaches. However, if there is a sudden surge in crowds or social distancing is not possible, you should bring and wear a mask.
You will also need to maintain a social distance of 1.5m indoors and 1m outdoors.
You may be required to show your COVID-19 vaccination record when visiting certain entertainment venues in Taiwan.
