A tourist in Bali and his girlfriend claim they were robbed while riding a motorbike at their resort, leaving six broken ribs and a fractured skull.

Dilor Yeretzian and his partner Cosette Karam, originally from Lebanon and now living in Sydney, were spending their last night on an Indonesian holiday island last Monday when they decided to go for a midnight run at McDonald’s.

The pair were driving their scooter home from the fast food restaurant when Ms Karam pulled out her phone to ask for directions.

However, the couple claim this soon attracted the attention of two men wearing black helmets and black tights, who stopped next to them and snatched the phone from Ms Karam, causing Mr Yeretzian to lose control and crash.

Mr. Yeretzian is now lying in a hospital bed in Bali, facing $69,000 in medical bills because he did not purchase the trip with the credit card that normally provides him with travel insurance.

A fundraiser has since been set up to help bring the tourist back to Australia.

As well as several broken ribs and a broken shoulder, Mr Yeretzian had blood and fluid in his lungs and a minor skull fracture.

Mr Yeretzian’s cousin, Anthony Matta, wrote on GoFundMe that he and his girlfriend were traveling at about 50km/h when they were allegedly attacked.

Mr Matta said: “Cosette got up immediately to see her beloved boyfriend lying on the floor, his eyes rolling back of his head and making unusual noises.”

‘ She burst into tears. Scene from a horror movie.

“As well as the scrapes, scrapes and bruises on multiple parts of her body, and the traumatic image of her injured partner, Cosette will forever be etched in her mind.

“We are grateful that they are still breathing, it is a miracle that they are still alive after this horrific attack.”

In a Facebook post, Ms Karam said police could not help because her partner was not fit to fly home and needed surgery in Bali.

‘We really need all the help we can get right now,’ she said.

To date, the fundraiser has received over $50,000 in donations.
