Valve’s portable gaming PC “Steam Deck” has started accepting pre-orders in Japan through Komodo. The 64GB eMMC model is priced at 59,800 yen, the model with 256GB NVMe SSD is priced at 79,800 yen, and the model with 512GB NVMe SSD is priced at 99,800 yen. A reservation fee of 1,000 yen is required. In both cases, you’ll receive an email notification when it’s back in stock, and you’ll have 72 hours to buy it. Limit one purchase per person.
Both come with a carrying case, and the first two models come with an exclusive Steam Community Profile Pack. Additionally, the 512GB model features premium anti-glare etched glass and exclusive virtual keyboard themes.
Steam Deck is equipped with a custom APU that integrates Zen 2 CPU cores (4 cores/8 threads, up to 3.5 GHz) and RDNA2 GPU cores (8 CUs, up to 1.6 GHz) co-developed with AMD, and runs its own Steam OS 3.0 (based on Arch Linux), a small gaming PC that claims to be capable of running most of the AAA games in the Steam library with enough performance. The memory is equipped with 16GB LPDDR5.
In addition to having game control pads on the left and right sides of the screen, it also features a square trackpad with 32.5mm haptic feedback. The liquid crystal is 7 types of 1,280 x 800 dots.
