Filmmaker Ranjith Pereira has released an updated version of his Sri Lanka travel guide with comprehensive audiovisual details tourists need. The first-of-its-kind product in DVD format is launched simultaneously with an Internet travel catalog featuring high-quality video clips.
The latest DVD was first released in 2010 and contains the latest updates for the past five years. The DVD “Sri Lanka Travel Guide” provides travelers with complete information and data on tourism in Sri Lanka, including its historical, archaeological, religious, cultural and social perspectives, as well as leading accommodation at various tourist attractions. It also has more than 20 short video documentaries on different historical sites like Anuradhapura, Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, Galle, Kataragama, etc. It also contains useful information related to tourism and related businesses, tour operators, car services.
This DVD is a full audiovisual format produced with a high definition camera system to promote Sri Lanka and its history, culture and traditions. “This is Sri Lanka’s digital campaign and the only audiovisual catalog available to promote the country,” said Ranjith Perera, who draws on his long experience in the film and television industry to take a novel approach to promoting the country.
“It will also serve as a handy guide for all tourists visiting Sri Lanka,” he added. Prof. KD Paranavitana wrote the script, Suresh Ranga Weudagedara designed the concept and audiovisual editing, and Ranjith Perera produced for Winson Films.
The DVD documentary will also be used to promote Sri Lanka in international travel promotions such as World Travel Mart. – Photo by Pradeep Dilrukshana
