Sri Lanka – Travel restrictions imposed in parts of Mannar

Erukkalampiddy in Mannar has been put under travel restrictions after a Covid-19 patient was detected.
A police officer involved in the work related to the new crown virus in Mannar said colombo bulletin Five members of the same household have tested positive for COVID-19.
A male family member who returned from Puttalam tested positive for the first time yesterday, and four other family members, including children, were subsequently tested positive for the virus.
He said another family had also reportedly attended a wedding in the town of Arusga Madalga recently.
Therefore, the health department and the police have imposed travel restrictions on Erukkalampiddy in Mannar.
Of the five members of the same family who tested positive, four men have been taken to the Kepai treatment facility in Jaffna, while one woman has been taken to the Kalpitiya treatment facility, police said.
Meanwhile, 172 residents of the area have been quarantined at home and health authorities conducted nearly 300 PCR and antigen tests on them yesterday.
Officers at the Mannar police station said the test results would be released today, followed by a decision on whether to relax travel restrictions in the area. (Colombo Gazette)
