Sri Lanka targets more tourists from Australia
Sri Lanka is aiming to attract more tourists from Australia, with more than 10,000 arriving in the first quarter of 2023.
Sri Lanka recorded 10,761 tourists from Australia in the first quarter of 2023, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Board.
The Sri Lanka Tourism Bureau stated that Australia, as a key tourist source market, is an important destination that can bring a large number of tourists to Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Board said today (Monday) that it organized an informative and engaging tour operator familiarization tour in Sri Lanka for a group of well-respected Australian tour operators.
As Australia is an important market for Sri Lankan tourism, this tour aims to attract high-end tourists from Australia to experience the wonders of the beautiful island destination.
The tour starts on March 13 and ends on March 23, 2023, giving participants ample time to experience the beauty and diversity of Sri Lanka. Visitors get a glimpse of what Sri Lanka has to offer and are more than willing to explore world-renowned iconic locations. The itinerary covers all major tourist attractions including heritage sites, wildlife safaris, boutique hotels, beaches and mountains, giving you an immersive experience of Sri Lanka’s unique culture and way of life.
Upon arrival at the airport, they were warmly welcomed by SLTPB officials and officials from the Tourist Information Center. They were amazed by the hospitality of the Sri Lankan people and then continued their tour with an afternoon tea reception at the Kingsbury Hotel. They were also able to meet and strengthen good partnerships with their Sri Lankan counterparts, whom they were happy to network with. Dushan Wickramasuriya, SLTPB Director of Marketing, was also in attendance at the event, and visitors were given exclusive souvenirs to commemorate their visit.
On this trip, they were able to get a unique experience of authentic Sri Lanka, whose iconic tourist attractions and convenient locations make it a 365-day destination.
They also took part in a Habarana cooking demonstration and sampled traditional country food, which was a first for them, and they relished it.
Travel agents also visited Sigiriya Rock Fortress and were attracted not only by the unique architectural and cultural splendor of the monument, but also by its panoramic view from a height, making it a UNESCO heritage site and the eighth wonder of the world.
The Dambulla Cave Temple was another historical landmark they visited, displaying splendid art and sculptures with architectural splendor unrivaled.
All of these experiences underline the uniqueness of Sri Lanka as an island paradise that has everything a passionate traveler could want – filled with endless travel and holiday opportunities.
