Fully vaccinated travelers from India can now enter Sri Lanka.
Indian travelers who have completed the recommended dose of Covid-19 vaccination and arrive from India (including transit) two weeks after vaccination will be allowed to enter the island nation. Any vaccine type accepted in the country of origin is acceptable.
The new rules do not allow entry of unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travelers.
Passengers arriving from India who have recovered from Covid-19 and received a dose of the vaccine will be considered “fully vaccinated”.
An official document on the Sri Lanka Tourism Board website states, “These travelers should present a valid document (in English) certifying Covid-19 disease and be within 28 to 28 days of the date of a positive Covid-19 nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT). Leave within 90 days.
“Such travelers should arrive after having received at least one dose of the AstraZeneca/Pfizer BioNTech/Moderna/Johnson vaccine or any other recommended single-dose Covid-19 vaccine, and the vaccination certificate should indicate that the vaccination process has been administered with one dose.
“This vaccine should be given 14 days after the NAAT positive test and 14 days before departure. The certificate should contain the name, date and name of the NAAT positive.”
Passengers should hold a valid tourist visa before boarding the plane.All visas must be applied online eta.gov.lk.
Before applying for a visa, make sure to book the first two days in a “L1 Safe and Secure” three-star or above hotel until the PCR test upon arrival; Three-star and above hotels that prepay the rest of the accommodation fee.

The PCR test upon arrival will be carried out in your “L1 Safe and Secure” three-star or above hotel. After the test report is negative, passengers can leave the biobubble.
Each hotel doctor or hotel manager will issue a “discharge certificate” after verifying the vaccination status and PCR test results. Unvaccinated children between the ages of 2 and 18 may leave the biobubble with their fully vaccinated parents after they test negative on arrival (day one).
Travelers are required to pay $12 for mandatory Covid-19 local travel insurance with a coverage of $50,000 for one month (including children under 2 years old).
Pay for PCR testing upon arrival ($40 per PCR test). Children under the age of two are exempt from PCR testing. However, if a parent/guardian develops symptoms or reports a positive PCR test, the child will undergo PCR testing.
