if you have seen 2001 Studio Ghibli animated film Spirited Awayyou’ll be able to recall one of the film’s most magical moments when its star, Chihiro, embarks on a train ride through shallow water along a submerged set of tracks.
The warm and picturesque scene lingers in my mind for a long time after watching the movie. If there is a chance to reproduce it, movie fans will spare no effort to experience it. And that’s exactly what happened recently at Shimonada Station in Ehime Prefecture.

The Xiatan station’s resemblance to the waterside station in the Ghibli film is definitely impressive, but it’s the There is a set of flooded tracks nearby.
These tracks lead into the water and look just like the tracks Chihiro ran to the station in the movie. However, The track at Lower Beach is effectively off-limits to the publicas they are located in the shipyard near the station.
According to the owner, about 100 people visit the site every day, leaving trash on the site and trespassing on private property.

Now the owner has alerted everyone to the issue on Facebook, and people have been sharing the news online, including Photos show rubbish left behind and a no-entry sign on the property.
The owner’s message reads:
“Please share this. We are a shipyard. This is by no means a model of Spirited Away of any kind. It is neither a “place to hide” nor a “place to heal”. This is where we hoist ships and repair them …the track is our work equipment. Can you accept people stepping on your work equipment? 100 people come to your house every day, can you accept it? Please. Please don’t come here again.”
As people continue to share information online, Meitetsu Tokoname Linerun by private railway operator Nagoya Railway, posted the tweet on its official Twitter account to get people talking straight.
“The train featured in Spirited Away was inspired by the Meitetsu Tokoname Line that was flooded by Typhoon Vera.
The appearance of the carriage body is very similar to that of Meitetsu trains at that time.
Incidentally, this train is called “Imo-mushi”.
The similarities between the two trains are undeniable, and the flooding that followed Typhoon Vera in 1959 was national news at the time, Spirited Away director Hayao Miyazaki should be 18 years old.
