The Bangtan Boys aka BTS have a huge fan following all over the world, all thanks to their soulful songs and incredible beats. With a global presence and a country-specific focus, apart from anime, South Korean boy groups have managed to capture the hearts of millions in Japan as well.
For the uninitiated, the South Korean boy band was formed in 2010 and debuted in 2013 under the Big Hit Entertainments banner. The band consists of 7 members, V, Jungkook, RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jin, Jimin.
According to Korean netizens, there is a BTS shrine in Japan. In order to lure Japanese citizens, photos of all BTS members are hung near the shrine. Not only that, the price of the prayer meeting at the shrine is 5,000 yen. The shrine is located near the beach at Izu Dog Resort. For the unaware, this shrine is actually dedicated to Kannon, one of the bodhisattvas said to be associated with compassion.
South Korean netizens have now taken to Twitter to express their displeasure at the shrine, which uses pictures of the boy group to make money.

“This shrine is not dedicated to K-Pop groups, but to Guanyin, BTS is just a place name”
Yes, because it’s a common location name. Whatever the reason, they’re just making money from the name of the group. https://t.co/6NnxvbhskT

Apparently, this shrine in Japan used bts’ brand name and photo without HYBE’s permission. The shrine charges 2,000 yen (about $17.39) to visit while using BTS’ name and photo without permission. Please report this to HYBE. https://t.co/blpeJdsYdZ

Apparently, someone built little shrines by the sea and put up illegal BTS posters and parades just to get more people to come. The Japanese have reported to Big Hit. For 2000 yen they can use BTS fame to get into this place like some attractions. 🤬 https://t.co/x3W9l6zIN9
