“Singapore does not have a diplomatic mission in Iran, which limits our ability to provide consular assistance in emergencies,” the statement read, adding that those in need of consular assistance while in Iran can contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ 24-hour on-call office .
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also strongly encourages Singaporeans to register electronically with them at https://eregister.mfa.gov.sg so that they can be contacted when needed.
The travel warning comes after Iran launched its first direct attack on Israel yesterday.
Iran’s Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported that the country’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) aerospace force launched dozens of missiles at specific Israeli targets in the occupied territories.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said the attack was in response to numerous crimes committed by Israel, including attacks on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus and a group of commanders and military advisers in Syria. — Bernama
