Shiseido Americas And East Windsor Host U.S. Senator Cory Booker With Tour Of East Windsor Facility And Town Hall With Local Employees During Summer 2022 Road Trip – MidJersey.News


Booker wrapped up his 2022 Jersey summer road trip yesterday and visited all 21 counties during the trip to focus on his ongoing work serving the people of New Jersey



EAST WINDSOR, NJ (MERCER) — Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Shiseido Americas executives welcomed U.S. Senator Cory Booker to the East Windsor facility and a town hall for local employees.Shiseido, celebrating its 150th anniversaryth Anniversary opened in East Windsor in 1998 and is now home to the company’s North American manufacturing center and one of its global innovation centers. Senator Booker toured the Shiseido plant in East Windsor, one of the town’s major employers, and hosted a town hall question-and-answer forum at 21 county-level events in New Jersey that packed the room with company employees.

Shiseido’s 350,000-square-foot East Windsor facility employs more than 340 people and produces more than 2,600 products, including three-shift manufacturing and innovation, five days a week. Shiseido, an environmental leader, installed solar arrays and upgraded LEDs. Shiseido cosmetics and fragrance brands include: Shiseido Tokyo Ginza, NARS, Drunk Elephant, Cle de peau, Tory Birch, Serge Lutens, Issey Miyake, Dolce & Gabbana and Narciso Rodriguez.

Founded in 1872 by Nobuo Fukuhara as a Western drugstore in Ginza, Tokyo, Shiseido is one of the oldest and largest cosmetic companies in the world. From business tours to local farms, roundtable discussions to town halls, press conferences to small business walks, U.S. Senator Cory Booker sums up his 2022 Jersey Summer Road Trip yesterday. Over six days, Booker visited all 21 New Jersey counties and highlighted his efforts to secure Congressional spending on key New Jersey programs and organizations, his support for local industries and his continued commitment to serving the state Residential Services Commitment Efforts.

Booker began his tour in Stafford Township to discuss the On POINT program, which provides police departments with on-site social workers to address the high volume of social services-related calls and incidents they receive. He then announced legislation that would expand the Virginia Veterans Family Support Services program, which promotes housing stability for low-income veteran families, to former members of the National Guard and Reserve.

Booker held a listening session with New Jersey stakeholders to discuss food insecurity and hunger in New Jersey, the need to reform our nation’s food system, and the rising incidence of diet-related illnesses. Booker will use comments and feedback he received during a hearing with New Jersey Speaker Craig Coughlin for an upcoming White House meeting on hunger, nutrition and health, which he successfully secured funding . Booker also announced more than $1 million in federal grants for the Norwescap Food Bank to increase its ability to distribute food and build a more modern facility.

To wrap up his road trip, Booker hosted a roundtable discussion in Cumberland County on the county’s work on implementing community violence intervention strategies aimed at reducing and preventing gun violence. Booker has been a proponent of this strategy. In 2019, he introduced break the cycle of violence, The legislation would provide communities with federal funding for gun violence intervention and prevention programs designed to interrupt the cycle of violence. Research shows that a combination of community-oriented intervention programs and common-sense gun control policies can reduce rates of gun violence.
