Resorts World Cruises snags another cruise ship from Genting Hong Kong – Travel Weekly
Resorts World Cruises, which was formed after Genting Hong Kong’s Dream Cruises, announced that it has acquired another ship from its former company, explorer’s dream.
Resorts World Cruises plans to begin using the ship in March.This will make explorer dreams, now known as Resorts World One Under the new brand name, the first cruise ship to homeport in Hong Kong in 15 months.
Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, chairman of Resorts World Cruises, said: “We are delighted that Resorts World Cruises will have its first Hong Kong-based cruise ship after normal travel with the mainland and overseas resumes.”
“We want to support the development of Hong Kong’s tourism industry in the same way we support Singapore and Malaysia.”
The ship will start sailing on 17 February, replacing the Genting Dream which is undergoing maintenance. From March 10, explorer’s dream 2 and 3 night cruises will be offered, starting every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The cruises will run until December of this year.
The restart of cruise ships is part of China’s new policy of easing travel restrictions.
Resorts World Cruises was founded in June 2022 by Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, who was chairman of Dream Cruises and Genting Hong Kong, before quitting the cruise line in early 2022 financial collapse.
