From January to November 2022, Vietnam received 2.95 million foreign tourists, a year-on-year increase of 21.1 times, but still a drop of 81.9% compared with the level before the epidemic in 2019.
More than 70% of international tourists visiting Vietnam are from Asia, with the largest number of tourists coming from South Korea (763,900, 26%), followed by the United States (266,000, 9%).
The Indian market continues to grow. According to statistics from the General Statistics Office, in November 2022, Vietnam received 27,000 Indian tourists, an increase of 31% month-on-month and a 50% increase over the same period in 2019. In the past, the total number of Indian tourists to Vietnam reached 109,000 in November, with a monthly growth rate of 49%.
The total tourism revenue for this period is estimated at VND 456.7 trillion, equivalent to 70% of the same period in 2019 before the Covid-19 outbreak.
At the same time, revenue from tourism services reached approximately VND 22.9 trillion, 4.1 times that of the same period last year.
Among them, tourists who entered the country by air during the review period accounted for 88.9%, while tourists who entered by land and sea accounted for 11.1% and 0.03% of the number of inbound tourists respectively.
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) has developed a special email system at https://mail.vietnam.travel as part of efforts aimed at promoting tourism in Vietnam.
This is the first time that the local tourism industry has set up an email system to serve tourism promotion activities. The move aims to strengthen the digital transformation of the travel industry with a greater focus on building tools and applications to enhance the travel experience.
