Our “Eco Toilet” initiative is part of Hankyu Hanshin Future Dreams and Communities Project, Hankyu Hanshin Holdings Group’s social contribution activity. With a focus on World Natural Heritage Sites and National Parks, we work with local governments to ensure that visitors enjoy nature in an appropriate setting, taking into account conservation and preventing overuse. Since the first “eco-friendly toilet” was installed in Yakushima in December 2007, it has been installed in Kumano Kodo, Shiretoko, Rebun Island, Ogasawara Islands/Chichijima, and Kushiro as examples.

The “environmentally friendly toilet” to be installed is decomposed by microorganisms in the treatment tank, has environmental protection functions, and can eventually be recycled as compost. In Amami Oshima in June, we realized the installation of a bio-toilet with solar panels. Taking this award as an opportunity, we will strive to provide a more comfortable environment for tourists while protecting the rich nature of the area.

Hankyu International Travel will continue to carry out social contribution activities including environmental conservation activities in order to pass on Japan’s rich and beautiful nature to future generations.
