Qatar Airways resumes flights to Haneda, Tokyo: Reconnecting Qatar and Japan. Qatar Airways has re-launched direct passenger flights between Doha and Tokyo’s Haneda Airport after a temporary hiatus.

Previously, the airline opted to operate from Narita International Airport due to better connectivity. However, due to the cancellation of the 2020 schedule due to border controls, Qatar Airways returned to Haneda on 1 June, offering 7 weekly flights. That doubled the airline’s capacity to Tokyo and coincided with the country lifting all COVID-related requirements, just in time for summer.

The daily flight schedule is as follows:

The airline now operates daily services using Airbus A350-900 aircraft with 36 Qsuite business class seats and 247 economy class seats. Flight QR812 took off from Doha at 6:30 a.m. local time and arrived in Haneda, Tokyo at 11:30 p.m. local time. The flight time was about 10 hours and 15 minutes. The return trip QR813 takes off from Haneda at 1 am and lands in Doha at 6:30 am, which takes about 11 and a half hours.

The development complements Qatar Airways’ existing Doha-Narita route, offering passengers more frequency from the greater Tokyo area, with a total of 14 weekly flights between the two airports.

Qatar Airways, which hosted the World Cup last year and became Formula 1’s new airline sponsor, is expected to return for the Qatar Grand Prix this winter, capitalizing on its strong fan base in Japan.

The airline aims to stimulate point-to-point travel and connections to its vast network of 160 destinations. They also expressed optimism about the expansion, stressing the importance of Tokyo and mentioning the airline’s plans to resume flights to Osaka in the near future.
