QANTAS flight departs from Melbourne to Jakarta | News
Travelers in Victoria can now use another international route from Melbourne, with the national carrier launching a new direct flight to Jakarta today.
The year-round flights will be operated by Airbus A330 aircraft three days a week and will add to Qantas’ existing Sydney-Jakarta services. Together, these flights offer customers a choice of nearly 300,000 seats and ten weekly flights between Australia and Jakarta per year, more than any other airline.
The new service is the fourth international route from Melbourne to be added to the Qantas map since borders reopened, following services to Derry and Dallas-Fort Worth. Qantas also resumed flights from Melbourne to Tokyo last month, operating a flight to Haneda for the first time, saving passengers almost two hours to and from Tokyo compared to the flight to Narita before the pandemic. Downtown time.
The route is also expected to be popular with travelers traveling to and from other major Indonesian cities such as Surabaya and Medan.
Qantas domestic and international chief executive Andrew David said the new route would support growing commercial and government links between Australia and Indonesia.
“We continue to see strong demand for travel to and from Melbourne, so we are delighted to expand our international network with another new route from Victoria,” Mr David said.
“Jakarta is becoming an increasingly important destination for our business travellers. These direct flights provide more options and make it easier for them to do business with one of Australia’s closest neighbours.
“This route is also a great opportunity for more Indonesians to explore the best of Victoria or to visit family and friends, with flights launching just in time for the Lebaran holiday.
“We would like to thank the Victorian Government and Melbourne Airport for their support in launching this new route.”
The Qantas Group operates up to 106 return flights per week from Australia to Indonesia, including Qantas and Jetstar services from Melbourne to Bali.
Qantas recently announced a multi-million dollar investment in new menus, gourmet meals and premium produce across all cabins across its regional, domestic and international network. The new menu changes, which began rolling out last month, feature seasonal ingredients, including plant-based options, just in time for fall. Grilled snapper with red chilli sambal, fried kale and jasmine rice, and beef goulash with chilli, buttered green beans, baked potatoes and black pepper sour cream are some of the menu specials on the Qantas Melbourne-Jakarta flight.
