Police slow to respond to brutal murder of Thai woman in London
this brutal stabbing The murder of a 27-year-old Thai woman at her home in Westminster, London, has sparked public fire against local police who failed to respond to calls for help from her friend. The unfortunate incident occurred at a home in Stanhope Place, near Hyde Park, worth approximately $4 million.
The body of victim Kamonnan Angela Thiamphanit was found Monday morning. According to British media reports, her neighbor reported hearing screams before the horrific discovery. The search for the culprit is still ongoing.
Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed last night that the deceased was indeed a Thai citizen who was stabbed. The ministry further revealed that the Thai Embassy in London has contacted the victim’s family and is working closely with the police on the case.
A concerned friend of Carmonan alerted law enforcement authorities on Sunday night, the Daily Mail reported. Despite this, they did not arrive at the scene until 13 hours later. According to the BBC, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that they received two calls from the same person at 7:05 pm and 9:34 pm.
multiple wounds
The woman was initially classified as a medium risk missing person before her body was found, police said in a statement. Police attended the property in Stanhope Place at 8.30am on Monday. They saw the grim scene of a woman who had been stabbed multiple times as she forced her way into the house. An autopsy revealed sharp force trauma as the cause of death.
Before Carmonan’s body was discovered, neighbors reported hearing two high-pitched screams followed by an eerie silence. Given that there was no forced entry and there was a video entry system at the front door, it is speculated that Carmonen may have been acquainted with the attacker.
The Metropolitan Police has referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) following criticism of its handling of the investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Adam Clifton made a public appeal for information.
“I appeal to anyone who has information that could help us, no matter how trivial you think it is, to come forward and speak to us. Carmonan’s family and friends are devastated by this murder and we must ensure accountability is pursued Responsibility of the perpetrators.”
Neighbors revealed that Kammonan lived in a £4 million (182 million baht) property in a posh neighborhood of Westminster, a stone’s throw from Hyde Park. The property, which until four years ago housed the Ethiopian Embassy, has been converted into a number of Airbnb apartments. Exactly how much space Carmonan will lease remains unclear.
According to the Bangkok Post, a local hotel owner said that the three-story, five-bedroom townhouse built in the 1820s had been rented out, but he did not know the identity of the tenant.
