I always pack chili sauce.i have a special sauce Belize. It was spicy with habanero peppers. I can’t live without it – I have to have chili sauce. I wouldn’t take it to a really nice restaurant, but when I travel I do take it with me a lot for a simple meal or snack. It would be served on some grilled meat or fish with a little chilli sauce on top. It packs in my suitcase every time.

I have a little tape recorder from many years ago with pictures of my daughter when she was about four years old. She did a little recording on it. She said, “Mom, Daddy, I love you so much.” I always carry it. No matter what hotel I was in, no matter how many days I stayed, I would press that button and hear her four-year-old voice. Now, almost 20 years later, I still love hearing that no matter where I am.

It’s a little awkward, but a very practical thing for me: I always bring my pillow. When I was 17 or 18, I was in a really bad car accident and I hurt my neck a lot, so I always needed to sleep on this very strong therapeutic pillow. It’s not the sexiest and most glamorous thing, and logically, finding room for this pillow in my suitcase was a bit difficult. But that’s pretty much the only thing I really need to carry with me.

I actually always carry a box of snuff. Like smoking tobacco. It’s something my dad always carries and also helps with meeting new people. I don’t take these things very often, but it’s a great icebreaker when you’re traveling the world and meeting different people. It’s kind of like picking me up. It’s like nicotine, even though I’ve never actually smoked it. It’s very menthol so it burns a bit. I like the shock, not the effect.

I always bring a really good pair of boots. walk to see places It’s really important to me. It sounds silly, but when you go to a new place, keeping your feet on the ground and exercising your legs is one of the most important ways to be able to really see how a place changes.

I always grab something to read. I try to make what I read closely related to where I am going. On my first trip to Australia, I read Robert Hughes’ great book on the penal colonies, The Fatal Shore. when i cross america, I read a good book on the Transcontinental Railroad. It’s always a book, not a Kindle. I am old school. I used to see a book at the bookstore that I had read before and buy it for two bucks, The World Through Garp’s Eyes or something.

I have a bad habit of packing too many sneakers. Always need at least six pairs of sneakers in your bag. I usually carry a large duffel bag so I can fit up to nine pairs of sneakers in it to have the options I need. I always pack too much kit.

My guitar is always with me. No matter where I go, work or not work. I can’t imagine being so far from home without my guitar. I’m not very practical when I travel. I always carry more stuff than I need. Even if I’m only going for a few days, I always have a big suitcase with me. I also always bring some white clothes. It’s a symbol of peace to me. I always feel great and relaxed when I wear white.

Usually, I like to travel with work-related stuff. When I was writing a book, a memoir, I was traveling with a lot of old photos that I was trying to write so I needed to have them scattered around my hotel room. I have a lot of family photos, photos of my travels to many different cities when I was younger. It kind of helps me collect all these memories.

I always carry a portable fishing rod. I’ve been doing this since I was four years old. My grandpa taught me to fish. There’s usually no time as we’re usually so busy shooting, but if there’s an opportunity anywhere we travel, I have to take the opportunity to get my rod out. What I fish for depends on which country I’m in, but I always pack.

I travel everywhere in desert boots. I wear them in all kinds of environments, in the mountains, desert, jungle, country, beach. My desert boots are my most important piece of clothing. They’re all-terrain only, so they fit anywhere. They are actually a pair of soldiers U.S.。 They’re durable, dry unbelievably fast, feel soft and feel great underfoot. I’ve tried all kinds of boots over the years and I swear by them.
