One-day tour: Go to the west for young men and women, one-day tour of Nangong Scenic Area

Nangong Scenic Area is located 20 miles southwest of the center of Beijing, in Wangzuo Town, Fengtai District. It’s a bit of a trek if you’re staying in Chaoyang or Shunyi, but the many sights are well worth a day trip.

In the northwest corner of the resort is Qianling Mountain. As the name suggests, this is a place of pilgrimage for Buddhists, with cave niches from the Sui and Tang dynasties. At 699 meters above sea level, it’s a challenging hike up to the plump, smiling golden Buddha at the top. Reward yourself afterwards by relaxing on the beach at picturesque Blue Dragon Lake Park (青龙湖公园) – or go there first!


Nangong is a hot spring resort, and you can soak in hot springs in Nangong Ethnic Hot Spring Health Garden. In addition to spa and massage facilities, there are indoor and outdoor swimming pools and water slides. Nangong Hot Spring Water World has more water fun, wave pool, pirate ship, rafting, Hawaii beach are waiting for you to play. Serious swimmers can jump into the international standard swimming pool and challenge the PB of 50m freestyle!


There is also the World Botanical Garden (Wuzhou Botanical Garden), which opened in October 2015. Their parrot garden has nearly a hundred different species of parrots, some of which will greet you with a cheerful “Hello!” (No) or even “Gong Xi Fa Cai!” (gōngxĭ fāc) “Happy New Year!” The greenhouse is divided into eight areas, including Butterfly Spring and Garden. Kids can drive miniature cars around the model city, or run wild in the rainforest-themed play area. Building out of sand is always fun, but even more so when you have your very own mechanical excavator! The whole family can go bush biking along the kilometer-long track.

Dine on locally grown vegetables at Quan Yee Farm, surrounded by exotic plants and the sound of waterfalls. If you’re looking for a weekend getaway, there are plenty of accommodation options, including luxurious five-star spa resorts.

How to get there: Take the G4 Well Hong Kong-Macau Expressway (Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau) from the West Third Ring Road. Leave the expressway at S315 Jingliang Road. Turn right into Nangong Yingbin Road until you reach Nangong South Road.
