According to reports, at 10 p.m., officers from the Pattaya City Police Department received a call to investigate the death of a foreigner in an eight-storey apartment building on Nong Prue Street in Bang Lamung district. Thai.

Pattaya City Police, Tourist Police, Forensic Officers and rescuers from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation went to the scene.

In room 304 on the third floor, police found the body of 58-year-old Norwegian national Paal Frode Aaberg. The deceased was lying on his back on the bed.

Police said Aaberg had a large gash on his neck and there was blood on the bed and floor.

Beside the bed, the police found a bloody 15cm fruit peeling knife. Police said there were no signs of a fight or a break-in. Police cordoned off the area while forensic officers gathered evidence.

Aaberg’s friend Angkhana Roswan, 40, testified that she knocked on Aaberg’s door at 8pm but he did not answer.

Angkhana said she was growing concerned because Aaberg had previously told her he wanted to die. So she asked the butler to open the door with the spare key.

Angkhana opened the door and found Aaberg lying in a pool of blood, and immediately called the police.

They said an initial police check of the building’s CCTV footage did not reveal any suspicious persons or activity. At 3pm yesterday, the deceased was photographed walking back to his room alone.

Some friends of the deceased told police that Aaberg had recently broken up with his Thai girlfriend and had gone quiet. He has repeatedly expressed his thoughts of suicide, his friends said.

Police said based on an initial inspection of the scene and conversations with Aaberg’s friends, they believe Aaberg slit his own throat.

Aaberg’s remains were sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine to determine his cause of death.

Just last week, a Finnish expatriate was found dead with his throat slit in Chonburi province. His wife thinks he committed suicide.
