New 4.2km road leads to expansion of tourism and transit between Phuket and Phang Nga

The four-lane concrete road is part of an urban expansion plan in the Thai Muang district of Phang Nga province and is expected to be used by tourists from Phuket to visit the popular attractions in Phang Nga province.

Commuters and holidaymakers will find it easier to travel between Phuket and Phang Nga as an additional road has been completed. The 4.2-kilometer road will help expand tourism and transit between the two provinces.

The Department of Rural Roads (DRR) has announced the completion of Na Klang-Ao Jik, the 1042 rural road. The four-lane concrete road is part of an urban expansion plan in the Thai Muang district of Phang Nga province and is expected to be used by tourists from Phuket to visit the popular attractions in Phang Nga province.

DRR director-general Apirat Chaiwongnoi said the road provides easier inter-provincial transport and will benefit the local economy and tourism. The completion of the road will accommodate an increasing number of tourists in Phang Nga since the country reopened after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Last year, Phang Nga received 546,475 tourists, bringing in about 2.7 billion baht to the southern province’s tourism economy. (NNT)
