Netflix launches Thailand travel guide

Thailand has long been known by Hollywood as a great location for filming. Now, Netflix has launched the “Explore Thailand: A Creative Travel Guide” website, providing viewers with in-depth information on places in Thailand featured in Netflix shows and movies.

For Netflix fans who have wondered where those amazing and exotic places from a movie or TV show are, if that place is in the Kingdom, they can now find out. With the answers comes a wealth of detailed information about each place and how to visit, if they so choose.

The site is a partnership between Netflix and the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Ministry of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, and the Creative Economy Agency. It represents a visionary approach to travel and tourism marketing, and a new and imaginative way to enhance the country’s image and understanding of Thailand.

It can also be very useful for tourists looking for destinations off the beaten track, as film and TV makers often choose locations outside of the main tourist spots like Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai and other popular locations. For example, locations include Chonburi province in the third season of Money Heist, and the province of Chumphon on the coast of the Andaman Sea, which is the protagonist of The Stranded.

It’s not just location that’s highlighted. Netflix fans can also search for specific experiences and attractions in the extensive list on the Travel Guides page. These include watching a boxing match at Ransjeet Stadium, a key location in Hurts Like Hell, and wandering through the capital Bangkok’s “Little India” to sample what’s showcased in Asian street food.
