(CNN) The mountain guide Sherpa from Nepal climbed to the top of Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak, for the 27th time on the 17th, setting a new world record.
According to sources such as the Nepal Tourism Bureau, 53-year-old Kamilita Sherpa successfully climbed to the summit with a foreign climber at 8:30 am that day.
Mr. Kami is a Sherpa who belongs to Seven Peaks Trekking, a travel agency in the capital Kathmandu. He is a veteran of climbing since 1992.
He has started his descent and is in good shape, according to the company.
Kami set a world record for climbing Mount Everest 26 times last year. Just two days ago, another Nepalese, Pasang Dawa Sherpa (46), reached the summit and queued for the 26th time.
This month is the peak season for Everest climbing. Nepalese authorities have issued a record 463 climbing permits to foreigners this season. This year, the long and dangerous queues of climbers waiting to reach the summit have once again drawn attention.
