Mongolia seeks closer tourism ties with Vietnam

Ho Chi Minh City (VNA) – The Ministry of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia will hold a tourism promotion event in Vietnam from April 4 to 7, marking the first time that the landlocked country will participate in the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival.

It also marks the start of upcoming events marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (November 17, 1954 – 2024).

During the festival, the “2024 Mongolia Roadshow” program was also held to introduce Mongolian culture, tourism, and food, and explore tourism cooperation opportunities between the two countries.

Galbaa Davkharbayar, Second Secretary of the Mongolian Embassy in Vietnam, said that the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival is an opportunity for Mongolia to introduce its culture and people to Vietnamese and help Mongolian tourism companies seek to establish partnerships with Vietnamese companies to increase the number of tourists traveling to each other. market, thus contributing to economic ties and friendship between the two countries.

He pointed out that the number of Vietnamese tourists to Mongolia and Mongolian tourists to Vietnam has been increasing in the past few years, but this has not yet fully utilized the huge tourism potential of the two countries.

He cited statistics showing that in 2023, more than 2,000 Vietnamese tourists will visit Mongolia, while the number of Mongolian tourists traveling to Mongolia will exceed 15,000 in the same period.

Zolkhuu Ulambayar, director of Mongolian tourism company TMD Tourism LLC, believes that in addition to their respective tourism advantages, the bilateral visa-free agreement that took effect on March 7 this year will also create favorable conditions and good opportunities for enterprises to strengthen trade. .

Ho Chi Minh City is an important tourism center in Vietnam and has a large number of overseas tourists. In view of this, Mongolian Airlines expects to launch a route from Ulaanbaatar to Ho Chi Minh City in November this year, which will help encourage more Mongolian and Vietnamese people to visit each other’s countries.
