(Mindanaoch) Stunning view! I went on a popular island hopping tour in the popular Siargao | Davaochi
Hello everyone! This is Mizuki from Davaoch. Until the last time, Zamboanga was featured, but from this time on, Siargao Island!
There are many Siargao Island tourism companies, but most of them focus on island hopping tours. The itinerary departs from Siargao Island and visits nearby small islands. Depending on the itinerary, the scope of services is wider.
Each island greets you with white sandy beaches and clear waters, and each island has its own characteristics, which you will never get tired of seeing. If you want to enjoy the Philippine Sea to the fullest, please join us at least once. This time I participated in such an island hopping tour, let’s take a look!
First, let’s review Mindanach.
In Mindanao, we will jump out of Davao and deliver you the political, economic, tourism, security and recommendation information of this undeveloped land in Mindanao.
Mindanao Stories
Mindanao is the second largest island in the Philippines, after Luzon (with Metro Manila), and the island where Davao City, Davao’s hometown, is located. It is located in the low-latitude region near the equator in the southern Philippines and has a climate that is like summer all year round. The vivid greenery that cannot be seen in Japan, the brick-colored roofs of the buildings, and the blue sky in midsummer are impressive.
Compared with Luzon Island where the capital Manila is located, there are more Muslims on this island. There has been conflict in the past, so people tend to think that security is insecurity. Now, though not as far as Japan, things have calmed down a lot. Although the atmosphere varies from city to city, there are many bright and warm people.
As a tourist attraction, the island is dotted with small and medium-sized cities, and each city has its own beautiful sea. There are many unexplored sea areas that have not been discovered by major capitals. If you want to go, now is the time. Mindanao is also home to Mount Apo, the highest mountain in the Philippines (2,954 meters above sea level).
Not only the sea, but also the historic streets from the Spanish occupation period and the unique history woven from before, each town is different. The image of “Mindanao” changes dramatically depending on which city you travel to.

The Siargao Island Story
Siargao Island is an island located in the northeast of Mindanao. Starting around 1980, waves suitable for surfing began to gain attention, and has since evolved into a beach resort that attracts tourists from all over the world.
The Cloud 9’s waves are particularly good. From there, the road leads south to General Luna, the most popular part of the island. With hotels, restaurants, cafes and souvenir shops, the area is buzzing every day.
There are many tourists from Europe and Australia, and most of the people who come and go speak English. Tourism is a big industry on the island so the hotels are all clean and the restaurants and cafes are immaculate. The appearance and atmosphere of the building are unified, and it has the image of “a tourist attraction for tourists” like Kyoto, Japan.
Recently, in December 2021, a super typhoon named Typhoon Odette hit, causing devastating damage. However, in less than two years since then, most of the redevelopment has been completed and you can now enjoy a more refined resort vibe than before.
How to get from Davao to Siargao Island
Flying from Davao to Siargao is the best option. Cebu Go, operated by Cebu Pacific Air, operates three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) direct flights between Davao and Siargao and Siargao and Davao. (As of April 2023) Before the coronavirus outbreak, Philippine Airlines had daily direct flights to Davao, so a revival may be around the corner.
It takes 1 hour and 20 minutes. Depart from Davao at 8:15 am, arrive at Siargao Island at 9:35 am, return from Siargao Island at 6:35 am, and arrive at Davao at 7:55 am.
Since the return journey is early, it is best to pre-arrange a van from the hotel to the airport. If you ask the hotel staff they will help you or book it for you. The one-way fare from the airport to General Luna is 300 pesos.

application
This time I took a tour with a company called Travel Essentials Siargao. There are countless Siargao tour companies, but I applied through this company, which is affiliated with the hotel I was staying at that day.
Requests can be made through the Messenger app. When you contact us, we will ask you for the information necessary for the reservation (arrival date, departure date, number of adults, number of children under 7 years old, other requests), so please answer.
After that, choose the itinerary you like, call to confirm the information, and the application is completed. The eye-hopping tour I chose this time is a tour around three islands. This island tour is more common. Lunch will be served on the second island.By the way, when you check the phone, if you tell the hotel where you are staying on the day of the tour, they will pick you up.

Here’s what you need and what you should bring. Also, regarding the clothes, I think it would be better to wear shorter ones that are easy to put on and take off. Getting on and off the boat will definitely get you wet from the thigh down. It’s a good idea to wear protective clothing if you really don’t want to get burned.
It is best to have a change of clothes, but you can go back to the hotel if you are completely wet. You’ll get wet at the end, so you don’t have to worry too much. If you are prone to seasickness, don’t forget to take medicine to prevent seasickness!
leave!
Around 7:30 in the morning, a van will pick you up at the entrance of the hotel. Get on the bus. We will bypass the hotels where other participants are staying and head to the island hopping office. After completing the formalities, you can finally board the ship and go to sea!
While waiting at the office, you can buy water, snacks, sunglasses and more at the store. Water in particular is absolutely essential, so if you forget it, buy it. I forgot so I bought it here.
The boat looked almost exactly the same as it did when I went to Santa Cruz Island in Zamboanga. Siargao is unique in that it is lined with many boats.
In addition to the author, there were two participants from Manila, and the other participants were from Australia and European countries. Even when I was on the boat, the clouds were getting bigger and the water was getting darker.
naked island
Naked Island, as the name suggests, is a naked island. There are no trees here, just sand spread out. It’s a small island, less than 10 minutes walk. We stopped for about 50 minutes on this tour.
Unfortunately, it was a cloudy sky, but it was blue. If you stand in the center of the island and look around, you can enjoy an uninterrupted 360-degree view. luxurious. Someone was filming with a drone.
Ships leaving the island at the same time line up in a single file. You may not be able to see the boat you’re on, but your guide will call it for you. The sun was shining for a while before heading to the next island. The scenes in the booklet seem to be suitable for camera roll.
Dagu Island
Daku Island’s Daku means “big” in the local language. It is the largest and the only inhabited island among the islands we are going to visit this time. We also had lunch there, so our stay on the island was the longest of the trip.
There are shops on the island where you can buy milkshakes, snacks and beer. Some people lay down with sunburn. Swimming and drawing on the beach, of course. There are ten ways to pass the time.
The photo on the right is of palm fruit lying around. I tossed it into the ocean and it came back in seconds. Nature is really amazing.
We posed for a photo before lunch. The rice, the surfboards on the signboard, and the colorful clothes really feel like a resort. Lunch is called a boodle fight and it’s like a buffet with all the dishes in one place.
Meat, fish, vegetables, rice and fruit are all you can eat. I’m happy with the content as I tend to be short on veggies and fruits when I travel. The ingredients are fresh and delicious. I haven’t eaten grilled fish for a long time.
From there, enjoy another hour of free time before heading to the next island.
secret beach
After leaving Taku Island, we stopped at Secret Beach before heading to the next island. At first glance it’s just the sea, but can you see the people behind it? permanent.
Yes, the water around here is only about an adult’s waist deep, so you can swim in moderate depths! Spectacular beaches hidden underwater are perfect for snorkeling. You can bring snorkeling gear if you have it.
In the picture on the right, you can see a small island in the distance, which is the next small island. Another ship is sailing ahead. We stayed at this beach for about 30 minutes.
Guyana Island
Finally, the island of Guyana. It means “Black Island”. Although it is a small island, there are many photo spots suitable for tourists, as well as huts where you can take a nap.
Behind the pier is a black rocky beach. This may be the origin of the island’s name.
Sea water enters the crevices in the rocks, forming puddles. The water is crystal clear. Time melted as I watched the tiny crabs and small fish move occasionally. I’m supposed to be there for about an hour, but all I remember is chasing small fish over the rocks.
We arrived at Siargao Island at 4pm. The tide was out, so I walked home from the place pictured above. I absolutely love shorts.
After landing on land, you will be taken to the hotel by a chartered jeepney. You can pay at the office before your trip or give it to your guide during your trip.
summarize
It is a trip where you can enjoy the best beaches such as Siargao, which specializes in beaches! Besides island hopping, there are two other major nature tours in Siargao. One is a land excursion where you can enjoy rock pools and rivers on the other side of the island. The other is to visit the bay. All tours are popular, so the rest is up to you.
I think there are a lot of people who have almost no chance to leave the island where they live in their daily life. The smell of the tide, the boat rocked by the waves, and the experience of eating the same meal with people from a completely different country are all precious and will remain in your memory for the rest of your life. Siargao Island is also recommended for those who want to have a global experience. (The inn rotates to host parties every night)
BTW, after this I was shark tanned, bent over, stretched, touched things, got up and went to bed in so much pain. This is what happens when you neglect summer. Please don’t be like me, just don’t overdo it with sun protection. It’s a promise.
