Maldives Travel Warning Update – Vax Before Traveling

The U.S. State Department recently issued an updated Level 2 travel advisory for the Republic of Maldives, a country located in the Indian Ocean.

On June 22, 2023, the US Department of State confirmed that travelers to the Maldives should be more cautious due to civil unrest at tourist locations, transport hubs, markets/shopping centers and local government facilities.

And the attack could have occurred on a remote island, which could lengthen the response time for authorities.

Additionally, U.S. citizens can obtain assistance from the U.S. Embassy in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

If you’re traveling to the Maldives in 2023, the U.S. government recommends that you join the Smart Traveler Program to receive alerts in case of emergencies.

Plus, traveling to the Maldives is now even easier.

The capital, Male, recently announced the launch of Saudi Arabian airline Flynas.

In 2022, the Maldives will welcome more than 1.6 million tourists.

From a health standpoint, the CDC says there are currently no notifications for the Maldives.

However, the CDC encourages travelers to keep up with several travel vaccinations, such as yellow fever, measles, and typhoid vaccines.
