Malaysia aims to target Chinese tourists with its “Durian Tourism 2023” campaign to promote the durian season across the country.

The campaign continues last year’s successful initiative targeting domestic tourists and will now be extended to several states including Johor, Pahang, Selangor, Perak, Kedah and Perlis.

Tour operator Huntlink Jong said Tourism Malaysia is running a marketing campaign targeting Chinese tourists from mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

The aim is to showcase the unique taste and quality of Malaysian durians compared to durians produced in other countries, and to encourage more Chinese tourists to visit Malaysia.

The durian tour package will provide industry players with opportunities to diversify beyond just durian picking.

Another travel agency, Amity Wong, said the packages would include the chance to enjoy other local fruits and different types of beverages, experience village life and take part in amateur sports.

She said that Chinese tourists come to Malaysia for durians, because Malaysian durians are of high quality and unique taste, which is not found in other countries.

The travel agency spoke on the sidelines of the International Travel Expo (ITE) 2023, the annual travel trade show in Hong Kong.

ITE 2023 showcases a wide range of travel products and services across the globe, including air tickets and travel packages, accommodation options such as hotels, resorts, vacation rentals and tour packages, and travel itineraries.

Durian is a popular fruit in China, but durians grown in Malaysia have a unique flavor and texture that attracts many Chinese tourists.

In addition, the durian season in Malaysia coincides with the Chinese summer holiday, which is also an ideal time for Chinese tourists to visit Malaysia to experience the unique taste of Malaysian durian.

18 packages to choose from

The “Durian Tourism 2023” campaign launched by Tourism Malaysia aims to promote the durian season nationwide and attract more Chinese tourists to Malaysia.

Visitors will be offered 18 packages, each offering a unique durian experience.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, from durian-themed cooking classes to guided tours of orchards and plantations.

Some packages include visits to durian festivals and markets, as well as the chance to taste different varieties of the fruit.

The event offers a range of packages that include not only durian picking, but also other local fruits, beverages, village life experiences and recreational sports activities.

By offering these packages, Tourism Malaysia hopes to diversify the activities of industry players and influence local economic activities while promoting sustainable tourism.

The Unique Taste and Quality of Malaysian Durian

Malaysian durians are considered the best for their unique taste and quality. There are many varieties of durian in the country, each with its own unique flavor and texture.

Unlike other countries, Malaysian durians are known for their rich, creamy and sweet taste.

The fruit is also known for its pungent smell, which may put some people off but is considered a sign of its quality.

Malaysia’s tropical climate and fertile soil provide ideal growing conditions for the durian tree, allowing it to produce high-quality fruit throughout the year.

The country also has strict regulations on the cultivation and export of durians to ensure that only the highest quality fruit is sold to consumers.

There are about 200 varieties of durian in Malaysia, each with a unique flavor and aroma.

The most popular durian varieties in Malaysia include Musang King or Musang King, D24, D101, XO, Red Prawn and Black Thorn.

Each variety of durian has its own unique taste and texture, so they are all worth trying.
