Malaysia looking for Qatari firms to collaborate on healthcare tourism

Doha: The Malaysian embassy in Qatar has revealed that they are looking to complement Qatar’s facilities and services and are seeking potential cooperation from the country in the healthcare sector.

The Malaysian Embassy in Qatar and Malaysia Healthcare, a brand of the Malaysian healthcare tourism industry under the Ministry of Health, organized the second series of webinars in Qatar on the introduction of Malaysian Healthcare (MHTC) on the topic of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation poor.

HE Zamshari Shaharan, Malaysian Ambassador to the State of Qatar, said in his speech, “We encourage any potential collaboration with any entity in the healthcare sector in Qatar.” He further explained that the webinar introduced and explored his country’s Potential and possibility offered by healthcare.

“The MHTC came to Doha last month and there is nothing better than seeing them in person,” he said. “Through this visit, it revitalized the relationship, especially in Qatar. The relationship was established in 2019, but unfortunately, due to COVID-19, travel has stopped. But this webinar encourages people to come to Malaysia for healthcare tourism ,” he continued.

The envoy also highlighted Malaysia’s reopening of its borders to international travellers. Fully vaccinated individuals, including children 12 years and younger, are no longer required to undergo pre-departure and arrival COVID-19 testing. Most recently, Tourism Malaysia held a roadshow in Doha in May, bringing together travel agencies, hotels, medical tourism companies and more in Malaysia.

Meanwhile, MHTC chief executive Mohd Daud Mohd Arif said the webinar was a way to “strengthen the valuable cooperation between Qatar and Malaysia in the field of medical tourism”. Medical tourism is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. Other speakers at the webinar included Dr. Mohamed Najib Mohamed Unni, Pediatric Hematologist, Sunway Medical Center (SunMed); Greg Loayon, General Manager, Zurich International Life, Qatar; and Muhammad Thomas Lim, Director, BizRep Services.
