Malaysia Airlines launches three new routes to India
Malaysia Airlines kicks off new commercial mileage journey to expand its footprint in India with flights from Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Amritsar (ATQ), Terry starting on 8th, 9th and 9th November Three new flights between Vandrum (TRV) and Ahmedabad (AMD). December 1, 2023, respectively.
The expansion will allow Malaysia Airlines’ point-to-point connection from Kuala Lumpur to India to cover nine (9) major hubs, giving passengers more choice and flexibility in traveling between the two countries. The airline currently operates direct flights to New Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Cochin. The new route will be operated by Boeing 737-800NG aircraft equipped with 160 seats, including 16 seats in business class and 144 seats in economy class.
As part of this effort, Malaysia Airlines is offering introductory fares for all-inclusive return tickets starting from INR 16,899 for Economy Class and INR 59,099 for Business Class, available for purchase from now till 15 September 2023 for 2023 Travel beginning November 8, 2024 to March 31, 2024. Plus, customers who book during this period will enjoy up to 50% bonus rich points.
Commenting on the matter, Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, Group Managing Director of Malaysia Airlines Group (MAG), said: “India remains a key market for MAG, so we are delighted to Introducing three new routes, which will provide greater convenience for travelers, strengthen our presence in this core market and further expand our Malaysia hotel services.
Currently, as of July 2023, our average load factor on this route is 81%, indicating growing and confident travel between the two markets. We are considering restoring pre-COVID-19 capacity in the Indian market by the end of the year, and will also seek to increase flight frequency to other destinations to support seamless travel in Malaysia and beyond. “
The airline will also increase frequency to build dominance in other key markets such as Australia, China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations as travel demand increases. From December 2023, the airline will increase its weekly flights from Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Melbourne (MEL) and Sydney (SYD) from 14 to 15 and 16 weekly, respectively.
In addition to the new routes and increased frequencies, the airline has also launched new products, MHsports and MHcruise, to further enhance the overall passenger experience, while further enhancing existing commercial products.
