Indian tourists overtake Chinese tourists in Singapore, second in world

Indian tourists visiting Singapore totaled 612,300 as of November 2022 and they were also the longest stayers in the country with an average stay of 8.61 days compared to an average of 5.19 days. On the other hand, the data showed that Indonesians stayed an average of 4.66 days, Malaysians 4.28 days and Australians 4.05 days.
Indonesia is the main source of international tourists to Singapore, with 986,900 visitors as of November. Malaysia came in third with 495,470 people, followed by Australia with 476,480.
The tourism industry is also having its best year since COVID shut down tourism in Indonesia. Indonesia, India, Malaysia and Australia accounted for nearly half (48%) of Singapore’s total arrivals, bringing the total number of foreign visitors to 5.37 million. The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) previously said the country expects 4 to 6 million tourists in 2022.
Singapore received more than 19.1 million tourists in 2019, and it was the fifth most visited city in the world before the pandemic. At that time, there were nearly 3.6 million Chinese tourists in Singapore, and Chinese tourists became Singapore’s largest tourist source. China’s reopening in December could bring more tourists to Singapore.
