#New Delhi:
India on Friday asked its citizens not to travel to Iran or Israel as tensions between the two countries escalated following an attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria 11 days ago.

Iran blamed Israel for the attack, raising fears that Tehran may soon launch an attack on Israel.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), in an advisory, also urged Indians living in Iran and Israel to take maximum precautions for their security and restrict their movements to the minimum.

“Given the current situation in the region, all Indians are advised not to travel to Iran or Israel until further notice,” the statement read.

“All persons currently residing in Iran or Israel are requested to contact their local Indian embassy and register,” the MEA said.

“They are also asked to adopt the strictest safety precautions and limit their activities to a minimum,” the statement added. PTI

Iran could attack Israel within 48 hours: report
Iran may launch an attack on Israel within the next two days amid rising tensions between the two countries after an Israeli airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Syria on April 1 killed seven Iranians, according to a report on Friday.

The Wall Street Journal quoted a person who was briefed by the Iranian leader.

Earlier, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant vowed that Israel would respond “appropriately” if Iran attacks Israeli territory.

“Iran’s attack on Israeli territory,” Gallant told U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin in a phone conversation on Thursday about Iran’s preparations for a possible retaliatory attack, Xinhua reported. A direct attack on Iran would require an appropriate Israeli response to Iran.” Agencies
