LONDON, United Kingdom – Not only has the IMEX Group pledged support for the inaugural Global Meetings Industry Day on Thursday 14 April, its team has also contributed to the day’s theme song.

The Global Meetings Industry Day (#GMID) follows the success of the North American Meetings Industry Day (NAMID) in 2015. This expansion is the brainchild of the Meetings Mean Business Coalition, which will once again join forces with the Meetings Industry Council (CIC) and other industry partners to promote events and rallies and defend the values of the meetings and events industry.

Carina Bauer, CEO of IMEX Group, commented: “The Global Meetings Industry Day is a great innovation and we are delighted to fully support it. One of the contributing groups that played a small role in the online songwriting process.”

The Global Meetings Industry Days are just five days away from IMEX in Frankfurt (19-21 April), where the global meetings industry will come together. In addition to the trade show, the annual IMEX Statesman Forum will also act like a Global Meetings Industry Day, highlighting the valuable and wide-ranging contributions the meetings and events industry makes to national and regional economies. Politicians and policymakers from around the world will be there to share best practice and discuss with industry leaders how destinations can prepare for the challenges of the years ahead.

Carina Bauer added: “Politicians will also hear from our opening ceremony about Global Meetings Industry Day from our keynote speaker, David DuBois, former Chair of the Meetings Industry Council and International Exhibition and The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Events Association (IAEE), played a key role in this initiative.”
