Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur Escape Road Trip, Philippines
Philippines Road Trip: Rich in Culture, Tradition and Lifestyle.
Our trip begins with Quezon Cityone of the cities that make up Metro Manila.
We decided to travel on our own in a private car and use the web for information about the places we planned to visit.we even used Google Map It’s actually accurate about how to get there.
It is not difficult to get to these provinces, because we take the main road, except for some dangerous curves on the mountain road.
Safe Driving!
Next stop: Vigan City
Vigan is the capital of the province of Ilocos Sur and is listed as a World Heritage Site as it is one of the few hispanic town Stay in the Philippines. There are hotels and other accommodation facilities in and around the area; modern and traditional restaurants. Of course, choose traditional!
So our plan was to find a good accommodation as we planned to spend the night in Vigan. The trip took 8 hours and included stops for breaks and packed lunches. We left Quezon City around 6:00 am and arrived in Vigan around 2:00 pm.
We had researched ahead of time for good places to spend the night in Vigan and decided on Villa Angela due to its good reviews and reasonable price. Unfortunately, it has very few rooms and when we got there, none were available. No worries, appointments are available! We just ignore it. 🙁
So we decided to look for other hotels and found Casa Rica Hotel, a boutique hotel Not far from Villa Angela. What a place!you can feel Traditional lifestyle! Surprisingly we were the only ones staying at the hotel, no worries! It’s actually fun because we feel like it’s our lounge! 🙂 They are very helpful, informative and breakfast is included.Good service, less than five minutes’ drive from the hotel Folk Culture Village.
not hard to find tourist attractions in Vigan.nearby Folk Culture Village (this is the main attraction) Squares, old cathedrals, churches and museums (Donation fee: any amount, other fees are only 20 to 50 pesos).
you can walk or ride Calesa, it will take you to 7 or 8 different places, but if you have already been to some of them, you can ask not to go.certainly this will take you over an hour Complete the full tour, because during that time you will take pictures inside the museum, climb the bell tower and other things. So get ready! 🙂
what we eat is Leona Cafe There are many choices for dinner Local Cuisine to Contemporary Cuisine. again, Local! 🙂 They have must try local dishes in the menu. We ordered llocos longganisa, Pinakbet pizza, Chopseuy and white rice. good good good good! The service is also very good! Then head back to our hotel for a good night’s sleep. 🙂
We then depart for Laoag, Ilocos Norte around 11:00 am
Vigan to Laoag takes 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Laoag, Ilocos Norte
we arrive Laoag Around 12:30 noon, go to Marcos Museum and Mausoleum (open daily, 9:00 am to 12:00 noon and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm) We waited 30 minutes for check-in.This is a place where you can learn a lot Ferdinand E. Marcos, 20 years as President of the Philippines, power, success, wealth and…more wealth…and more wealth…more and more…. rich. To us, his embalmed body in the mausoleum looks like a wax replica.
from there we head to Malacañang in the North and Lake Powai it took us 30 minutes to arrive (Tuesday to Sunday 9:00am to 11:30am and 1:00pm to 4:30pm).also known as Malacañangis where former President Marcos and his whole family live, has a golf course, and there is a Powell Lake behind the house where they can do water sports.
Wow! The lifestyle of the rich and famous!
Due to lack of time, we decided not to go la paz dunes But we really recommend checking it out!Since we are going bangui windmill And to Pagud Beach, We don’t know where we’ll spend the night. The original plan was to Saramsam Ylocano Restaurants or La Preciosa Restaurant. try it! They are located within the city and close to each other. very convenient!
We headed to Pagudpud, which took another 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Pagupu, Ilocos Norte
before arriving pruneWe went bangui windmill.you can go down those sharp turn on mountain road look carefully. They are actually giant windmills that generate electricity.Finding a beach resort or any accommodation is not difficult prunethere are many options from hotels to hostels.
We decided to stay at Terra Rika Beach Hotel, which is an “okay” hotel.i suggest you try it Hannah Beach Resort, which has many activities. There was another 20km to drive, so we decided not to because we were tired. 🙂
Enjoy the beach! Food is everywhere! Very nice people!
