Hyatt Releases 2022 Holiday Travel Trends Survey | Hyatt Hotels & Resorts Press Release

The survey was conducted online from 6-21 October 2022 in partnership with market and PR research firm OnePoll (based in London, UK). I answered. Nearly three years into the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become clear what travelers around the world are looking for this holiday season. The main trends are as follows.

・94% of those with families aged 45 and over plan to travel in December and 58% plan to travel in January
・About two-thirds of those planning a family trip prefer to stay in a hotel or resort rather than a vacation home.
・Japan, Canada and Italy are the most popular travel destinations
・61% of respondents said they would be happy if they could give a travel-related flight ticket or experience such as a spa, meditation, cooking class, etc. as a gift.
62% said they use travel rewards programs where they can earn and redeem points, discounts and unique experiences.

・63% say they look forward to traveling and having fun during the holidays
65% say they are likely to use the benefits of the Travel Rewards program, such as earning, redeeming and discounting points
Nearly half said attractive travel rewards programs would change their travel plans to earn and redeem points.
Free nights and dining experiences are the most popular benefits of travel rewards programs
・70% emphasize choosing accommodation based on seasons and activities
・71% of respondents prefer hotels and resorts when traveling with their families
