Thailand

Hotel packages, fringe festivals and more

This is the most wonderful and wet time of year. Songkran is just around the corner and we know how to make the most of it. Here’s how to indulge in our favorite hotels, travel safely across the country, where to find the best flight deals, and more.

In Thailand, Songkran might be the most fun event on the calendar. Held from April 13-15, almost everyone will have a few days off to celebrate, with water battles taking place from Silom and Bangkok all the way to Phuket. The whole country is filled with joy. Best of all, many provinces celebrate Songkran on different days, so if you’re up for some sort of water bash, this is your chance.

But if you’re traveling from Singapore to Thailand, there are still a few ways to get the most out of Songkran. Instead of paying high-priced airfare, you can book flights with special promotions and use the extra cash you save to buy some of the most luxurious hotel experiences in the country. If you’re in Bangkok or out of town, you’ll also need to consider certain dates (read: traffic).

Here are some tips to make your Songkran holiday 2023 worthwhile.

take Wan Lai consider festivals

Held in various provinces of Thailand Wan Lai, which translates to “flowing days”. That means if you haven’t enjoyed enough festivities during the official holiday, you can join in too, as these places hold Songkran celebrations after the festival.

For example, Chonburi has a water fight from April 21-23, Samut Prakan has a water fight from April 22-24, and Pattaya won’t get wet until April 19.

Make the most of Bangkok’s quiet roads

Not participating in water battles? It doesn’t matter. Many Bangkokians use their extended holidays to explore other parts of the country or return to visit family in other provinces. That means you can expect the usual tourist hotspots across the country to be absolutely packed. Walking all the way from here, we can already imagine the traffic jam in Chiang Mai. But that means the streets of Bangkok will be quieter than ever, giving you the chance to discover what Bangkok is like without the usual traffic.

Having said that, the start and end of Songkran will be the busiest on the road, so plan ahead if you’re also leaving or entering the city.

Pay attention to 4.4 Promotions

We love the great sales in Singapore, and many online stores have special promotions on double-digit days of the month. In April, when 4.4 arrived, some airlines canceled their deals and promotions. Take advantage of this opportunity to snag Songkran tickets for big savings.
