Hong Kong Travel Advisory Update – Level 4: Do Not Travel (2 March 2022)
The Hong Kong Travel Advisory has been updated to reflect the local health and safety situation.Travel Advisory is now at Level 4: – Do not travel due to COVID-19 and COVID-19 related restrictions, including risk of separation of parents and children. U.S. citizens should also reconsider travel to Hong Kong due to the arbitrary enforcement of local laws.
We are making this update to reflect the current situation in Hong Kong, where travel and access to public services has been severely impacted by the zero-tolerance approach taken by the Chinese and Hong Kong governments to COVID-19. We would particularly like to point out to families considering traveling to or living in Hong Kong that in some cases, Hong Kong children who tested positive have been separated from their parents and placed in isolation until they meet local discharge requirements.
We also assess that U.S. citizens face the same risks from arbitrary law enforcement as the rest of China. Read the full travel advice here. We also encourage US citizens in Hong Kong to read our country-specific COVID-19 information on the consulate website.
