Holiday Inn brand shows strong growth in Southeast Asia
InterContinental Hotels & Resorts’ hotel signings peaked this year, with half of them in Southeast Asia. Hotels to focus on include Holiday Inn & Resort and Holiday Inn Express, which will continue to account for about half of IHG’s global new openings and about 70 percent of its total hotels through 2022.
With openings last year in Ho Tram, Vietnam, Cebu, Philippines, Koh Samui, Thailand and Krabi, IHG is seeing growing interest from landlords in other destinations. So far, 33 Holiday Inn hotels and resorts are opening in Southeast Asia, and 26 more are under construction.
IHG has made several announcements this year – Holiday Inn Phuket Karon Beach, Holiday Inn Phuket Surin Beach, Holiday Inn Pattaya, Holiday Inn Express Bangkok Asoke and Holiday Inn Express Bali Sunset Road, and the first Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites in Singapore – bringing the number of hotels open and in the pipeline to 95.
