GVB to participate in Singapore travel trade event | News

The Guam Tourism Board participated in ITB Asia and two other travel trade events held recently at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center in Singapore.

ITB Asia is considered the leading travel trade show in Asia, co-located with MICE Show Asia and Travel Tech Asia, GVB said in a press release on Friday.

The three events, taking place from October 17-21, cover key segments of the tourism industry:

• leisure.
• Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions, known as MICE by industry professionals.
• Business.
• travel technology.

Industry leaders shared insights into key trends and how destinations can live up to this year’s theme, “Going Big and Going Strong: Travel and Tourism Remains Competitive on the Path to Recovery and Growth.”

According to GVB, the ITB Asia business-to-business event attracted more than 80 national tourism organizations and hundreds of travel-related companies, generating more than 27,000 bookings over the three-day period.

GVB has over 100 appointments introducing Guam to travel industry representatives looking for new leisure travel destinations.

The delegation also focused on selling group travel at the MICE Show Asia event and engaged with travel technology decision makers and suppliers during the Travel Tech Asia event.

Philippine Airlines

In addition to the three trade shows, GVB’s team of marketing managers also met Marie Jemma B. Saranillo, Philippine Airlines Southeast Asia country manager, to renew the partnership with the airline to promote Guam in Singapore.

The partnership includes travel trade familiarization tours to bring interested tour operators to the island in the coming months so they can learn how to sell competitive Guam packages.

While in Singapore, GVB and the airline, together with travel agency partners, hosted a Guam product update launch featuring Tsubaki Tower, Dusit Thani Guam, Dusit Thani Beach Resort, T Galleria by DFS and Sponsored by Fisheye Marine Park.

“We are looking to expand the visitor profile for Guam and see Singapore and Malaysia as viable sources. Singapore is on the US Visa Waiver Program and Malaysia is on the Guam-CNMI Visa Waiver Program so there is a huge opportunity to increase interest and arrivals in these markets,” said GVB President and CEO Carl TC Gutierrez.
