Government hosts cultural events and food expo
Hong Kong is launching a new ‘Bringing Joy to the Community’ campaign starting Saturday, April 29. The first event is Movie Day, where moviegoers can buy a HK$30 movie ticket at all cinemas in Hong Kong. Through the “Happy Hong Kong” campaign, citizens can enjoy a variety of “fun choices” and exciting activities in Hong Kong.
The government also added that the West Kowloon Cultural District, Disneyland, Ocean Park and Cyberport will host various events. The event will run until November 2023, giving Hong Kong people and tourists plenty of time to participate!
Hong Kong Events: Residents can enjoy themed festivals, carnivals and food fairs
Another event called Chill All Night will be open to 5,000 people. Held on Saturday night from 6pm to 11pm, attendees can listen to DJ music, enjoy a variety of food and drinks, and enjoy the light show. The spectacular night view of Victoria Harbor will be the backdrop for the show and fireworks. The government also encourages street performers to participate in free events. There will be a total of 12 major events through November, including food experiences and a carnival.
Meanwhile, three food fairs will be held across Hong Kong from April to June. The earliest event will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center in Wan Chai from April 29-30. It will showcase international cuisine. The next edition will be held at Sha Tin Hall Plaza and Sha Tin Park from May 6th to 7th, featuring Chinese and local delicacies. Finally, the last Food Fair will be held in Kwun Tong, focusing on Asian cuisine.
In addition to the rich and colorful food experience, the large-scale food carnival will also hold performances, children’s games and other activities to create a joyful atmosphere. All events are free, but events in Wan Chai require tickets to enter. The Director of Home Affairs, Mai Lili, said that 100,000 tickets will be distributed in 18 districts through the Home Affairs Center and on-site during the event.
More Hong Kong events are on the way
In addition to food-themed activities, there are also sports-related activities such as Hong Kong Olympic Day and Asian Games Happy Run Carnival. The Manchester United U-16 youth team will also travel to Hong Kong in August for a week-long football exchange program. They will also play two football friendly matches with local players on August 9th and 12th.
The government has also allocated HK$250 million to the Hong Kong Tourism Board to strengthen the promotion of upcoming major events. An additional HK$30 million will be used for tourism to enhance and upgrade existing technologies.
