German tourist fined 1,000 baht for parking SUV on Phuket beach
A German tourist found himself in trouble after his trip Ford Everest SUV registered in Bangkok Caught in the sand at Ley Phang Beach, Phuket.
The car was owned by a man named Simoen and authorities impounded the vehicle and fined him 1,000 baht, according to reports circulating on social media.
When Cherng Talay police arrived at the scene, they found the SUV stranded further down the beach, away from the waves. Tire tracks left a trail of sand showing the car had ventured ashore. Despite the apparent violation, the police statement did not solve the mystery of why the car chose this sandy parking spot.Looks like someone took the concept of “beach drive” too literally.
An old Toyota Corolla GXI was also found at the scene with its front wheels deeply embedded in the sand. The police statement did not detail any action taken against the vehicle, other than its subsequent removal from the beach area.
Both vehicles were driven to the beach the night before by a Thai man, according to a witness who was a construction worker at a nearby camp. The Ford Everest was later introduced in an attempt to help the Corolla escape its sand woes.
A recently extinguished campfire was found in nearby trees, suggesting gathering activity may have occurred in the area. However, no further details have been provided about the circumstances leading up to this particular incident, Phuket News reported.
