Four Seasons opens private island in Maldives: Travel Weekly

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts will launch the first private island in its portfolio in the Maldives this December.

The five-acre Four Seasons Private Island Maldives at Voavah opened on December 1, accommodating up to 22 people in seven bedrooms, including overwater bungalows. The property has a central beach house, dive center, spa and a 62-foot yacht that takes guests to other islands in the Maldives.

Armando Kraenzlin, Regional Vice President and General Manager, Four Seasons Resort Maldives, said guests on the island can “design their own experience”.

“You can use it as your retreat,” he said. “It can be a spa, a home center, a dive center.”

The beach house on the island features an open-air living room, dining room, kitchen, pool deck, gym, library and loft lounge, with seven bedrooms spread across three locations: the beach, the lagoon and an elevated “mezzanine suite”. The island’s Oceans of Consciousness Spa offers overwater spa treatments as well as yoga, meditation and salon services.

Its 62-foot private yacht, Voavah Summer, takes guests on excursions ranging from snorkeling with manta rays to diving with whale sharks to visiting local islands, including other Four Seasons resorts. The private island will join the company’s two properties in the Maldives, Four Seasons Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru and Four Seasons Maldives at Kuda Huraa.

The island is a 40-minute seaplane ride from Male International Airport, or a 20-minute speedboat ride from Four Seasons Resort. Nightly rates range from $38,000 to $46,000, depending on the season.
