Etihad cancels expansion of Abu Dhabi-Moscow route
Etihad Airways plans to expand services between Abu Dhabi and Moscow have been scrapped, it has been revealed.
The changes come as airlines prepare for their upcoming 2023/24 winter flight schedules.
Without further ado, let’s get started…
Etihad cancels expansion of Abu Dhabi-Moscow route…
According to information from AeroRoutes.com, from October 29 this year, the original plan to increase the number of flights per week from 7 to 10 in winter will not continue.
Currently, no reason is given on the website or by Etihad Airways, but it could be due to equipment replacement.
Between October 24th and November 30th, the equipment was changed from a Boeing 787-9 to a -10 model, allowing more capacity to be carried on each flight.
This would actually reduce the need for extra weekly flights.
Of course, this could all change and Etihad could make a decision around the time the Moscow route resumes to 10 flights per week.
All parts of total global change…
Earlier this month, the airline announced additions and changes to the rest of its global network outside of Moscow.
Etihad Airways also contributes significantly to Abu Dhabi’s economic and tourism growth. By increasing flight frequency to key international destinations, the airline is improving accessibility and strengthening Abu Dhabi’s position as a global travel hub.
Notable examples include Cairo, where the addition of five weekly flights will strengthen links between Abu Dhabi and the Egyptian capital.
Likewise, weekly direct flights to Colombo will also increase, further increasing travel options to this vibrant destination.
The number of flights to the Maldives will also increase, with seven additional flights per week, underscoring Etihad’s commitment to fostering greater connectivity.
Changes to network scheduling also include adjustments to departure times for European and Asian destinations to ensure passengers have a seamless travel experience.
In addition, increased frequency to various key destinations such as Chennai, Islamabad, Kochi, Madrid, Milan, Munich, Rome and Phuket provides travelers with more choices and enhances overall connectivity.
Overall, Etihad Airways is making important changes, including the Moscow route, which will ultimately provide optimal operational capacity and future revenue capture.
